Ankara Infant Helmet Therapy | CranioWell Orthotics & Prosthetics Center
HKM Pro cranial helmet therapy for babies in Ankara. 3D scanning, custom fit, and follow-up at CranioWell Orthotics & Prosthetics Center. Address, appointment, and process.
CranioWell Orthotics & Prosthetics Center in Ankara provides evaluation and HKM Pro cranial helmet fitting for infants with positional head deformities. The first visit includes a 3D head scan, a detailed assessment, and — when clinically indicated — a custom-manufactured helmet.
Most families come when they notice a flat area or asymmetry on their baby's head. The conditions we assess most often are:
Plagiocephaly (asymmetric flat head): One-sided flattening at the back of the head. See: what is plagiocephaly?
Brachycephaly (flat back of head): Symmetric flattening across the entire back, giving the head a wide appearance. See: what is brachycephaly?
Positional scaphocephaly: A long, narrow head, most common in premature babies. See: what is scaphocephaly?
After craniosynostosis surgery: When the surgeon recommends post-operative helmet therapy, the helmet is made at our center. See: what is craniosynostosis?
Not every baby who visits needs a helmet. In mild cases, repositioning and tummy time are often sufficient.
What happens at the first visit?
Consultation: We discuss your baby's age, birth history, sleep habits, and neck range of motion.
3D scanning: Your baby's head is measured with a radiation-free, contactless 3D scanner. See: what is 3D head scanning?
Assessment: The measurements are shown to you; we explain whether a helmet is indicated and what the alternatives are.
Custom manufacturing: If a helmet is needed, it is produced domestically from your baby's scan data, then fitted at the next appointment.
Follow-up: Check-ups are scheduled throughout treatment; head-shape progress is tracked with repeat measurements.
What is the best age to start helmet therapy?
Head growth is fastest in the first months of life; the helmet works by guiding that growth. The optimal evaluation window is generally 4–7 months. Helmet therapy may still be possible after 12 months, but because growth slows, the process takes longer. Read more: cranial helmet therapy overview.
Is a doctor's referral required?
Yes. A physician's assessment is needed before starting helmet therapy. Your pediatrician or relevant specialist determines whether the head shape is positional or due to another cause. Our center supports that assessment with 3D measurements.
Helmet cost and insurance
SGK (Turkish public health insurance) does not currently cover infant helmet costs. Some private health insurance plans may cover helmet therapy — check your policy details. Pricing is set by the care package, not by deformity grade. For details, see: helmet therapy FAQ and pricing information.
